Death in combat casualty #08:-
04-Jan-2009 Private (PTE) Gregory Michael SHER, 30, has been Killed in Action (KIA) during a hostile rocket/missile bombardment on the provincial patrol base in Oruzgan province, Afghanistan where he was stationed.
Private Sher belonged to the Australian 1st Commando Regiment and was serving with Special Operations Task Group. He and his partner lived in Sydney.
Lieutenant (Lt) Michael Kenneth Housdan FUSSELL. Killed 27-Nov-2008. Age 25, Single, member Australian Army 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (Commando) Special Operations Task Group (SOTG).
Lt Fussell was Killed in Action (KIA) by Taliban insurgents using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was detonated whilst Fussell and his troops were conducting a dismounted foot patrol in the Oruzgan province, Afghanistan.
07-Jul-2008 Signaler (SIG) Sean McCarthy, member of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) was Killed in Action (KIA) when the vehicle he was travelling in was hit and destroyed by a road-side bomb in Afghanistan.
He was 25 years old, unmarried and came from Perth, Western Australia.
