Having problems trying to get the Samsung SGH-D600 phone connected to your computer?

Overcome the Samsung phone software issues with these instructions. Samsung released the phone with so many bugs in the software, you could not link or synchronise with your computer. This page will give you a working version of the software and instructions how to solve the problems.

I recently purchased the Samsung SGH-D600 and it is a great little, stylish cell phone. So much so my took the first one for herself!

However, she quickly had countless problems trying to get the software that is provided with the phone working. Basically, the Samsung PC Studio 3 software that is loaded on the CD that comes with the phone is faulty - you will not be able to connect to the phone.

To make matters worse, Samsung screwed up by releasing additional software versions but these too were faulty. On top of this, Samsung then posted another version but this was a faulty package and couldn’t load.

I emailed Samsung advising that this version was incorrect and Samsung promptly replaced it - but with another version. All of this means is that Samsung have really stuffed up getting this working for users despite their massive advertising campaign to sell the phone.

On this page, I am sharing information that works. I’ve tested this phone with this software using Windows XP Pro SP2 and could connect, sync with Microsoft Outlook and make it work.

This is what I did.
* Using a Windows XP machine with SP2.
* Do not connect the Samsung PC connection cable and phone to the PC until instructed.

Step 1 - downloaded the 50mB program from the above link.

Step 2 - deactivated all anti-virus programs

Step 3 - Uninstall all programs that relate to Samsung. Modem, PC Studio, ALL support software.

Step 3A - Restart your computer.

Step 3B - Install ONLY the downloadable program from the website, 20051222101954359_Samsung_PC_Studio_3_Installer version 10.50.0.132. This actually installs Samsung PC Studio and Phone Editor Version 3.0.0 EL4

Step 4 - You are given the option to run the program but cancel when the connection wizard started.

step 5 - reboot the XP machine and let the machine processes stabilize.

Step 6 - Open Studio 3.0 (Start > Programs > Samsung PC Studio) and the Samsung new connection wizard appeared with 3 options: USB, Bluetooth and direct. Connected the USB cable to the computer port and to the phone.
Windows new connection device appeared. I chose the Let windows connect and install option and it proceeded the install the appropriate drivers from the Samsung folder location.

Step 7 - The Samsung new connection wizard appeared and the Samsung PC Studio window appeared with SGH-D600 Connected at the lower right hand side of the program window - so far so good!

Step 8 - Wanted to test the functions of the program so proceeded to test and use “Manage contacts and more” program which loaded and connected to the phone! Success!

    Hey there,
Not sure if you can help or not.
I’m still using my trusty D600 and had no problems with PC Studio
    (until now that is)
All still works except opening mp3 files in the ‘Sound Editor’
files won’t open and I receive a TODO has stopped working. (same error on Vista and XP system)
    Any clues
    Thanks
