Press: Place where cops shop - 1988
Interesting general story about Signal One. The company was very news worthy because the topic was a good media story and was somewhat vendor neutral.

Dulwich Hill businessman Matt Holden thrives on crime.
As crime rates rise, so does Mr Holden’s profit. His business is security and he supplies most of Australia’s law enforcers everything from batons to body armor. Mr Holden’s company Signal One, pulled off a coup a few years ago by winning the right to manufacture the light weight body armor Second Chance.
Signal One is the only company outside the United States producing the aptly named vest, and it supplies countries around the Pacific.
“Shoot me with a .44 magnum” says a demure Mr Holden “there’ll be no penetration” Although light and flexible, it is stronger than steel and has saved the lives of more than 400 American policemen. Mr Holden says the Second Chance super-light Kevlar vest is popular among executives travelling to trouble spots like the Middle East.
Signal One’s batons, body armor and handcuffs are only available to police or with ministerial permission. About the only things available to the public are the training manuals. Titles include Street Survival - tactics for armed encounters and Surviving Edged Weapons.
